100 Days of Gratitude - Day 30 - Books
Friday, March 4, 2011 at 7:19PM Today I'm grateful that I grew up in a house, and a time, when books were important.
Everyday I think back to books that I've read and use that information. I look around my office at the thousand plus books in cases, boxes and stacks, and look at them as trophies of information that I've learned.
I don't have the kind of memory that lets me remember where every idea came from, but I do know that I love diving into the minds of people who are way smarter than me and learning the way they think (non-fiction) and being carried away to imaginative worlds created in the brilliant minds of others (fiction).
Here are a few of my favorite authors and books, in no particular order.
Authors:
- Mark Twain - probably my all time favorite. I'm reading his autobiography right now.
- Robert Kioysaki - Author of the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series of books.
- Stephen King - argueably the greatest living author in the US.
- James Michenor - I've loved his books for years.
- Jim Steinmeyer - the most brilliant man in magic - I love his writing when he explains his creative process.
Books:
- The Millionaire Next Door - crazy revealing information
- Freakonomics - economics is NOT boring
- The Richest Man in Babylon - my all time favorite book. I've given away 500+ copies - I love to share this book.
- The Harry Potter Series
- Eragon & the Inheritance Series
- Catch Me If You Can
- The DaVinci Code
There's my short list - just off the top of my head.
What are you reading?
