100 Days of Gratitude - Day 44 - David Hira, my moral compass
Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 12:02PM
Me and David rock the mic at Epic Karaoke IV in May of 2010.Today I'm grateful - actually, everyday I'm grateful, for my dear friend David Hira.
For those who know me well, you'll hear me reference 5 people (other than my children) in my life more than any others, Kim (who I covered on Day 1), Brian Brushwood (Day 38), Gus Davis (Day 26, as part of my Game Shows To Go team - though he deserves his own day soon), John David McDaniel (Day 13) and today - the guy I actually talk to more than anyone else on the phone - David Hira. Again - these are not in any particular order.
When I have a problem... I call David.
When I have an ethics questions... I call David.
When I need help with a speech or presentation... I call David.
When I need a laugh... I call David.
When I need a cry... I call David.
When I need to vent but can't say what I need to say to anyone else... I call David.
When I need advice... I call David.
When I'm working out a business idea... I call David.
When I just need someone to chat with... I call David.
Basically... I call David. Sometimes just to check in.
Best of all, I know that he's going to tell me what I NEED to hear - not what I WANT to hear. He's not going to hold back, he'll tell me his honest opinion. He knows all of my faults and all of our differences - and he loves me just the same.
David is the single most genuinely nice, ethical, giving and moral person that I know.
Some people talk the talk, but don't walk the walk - David does both. He serves as an example of the person that I want to be and that I struggle to be.
He's also a truly awesome performer and one of the finest motivational speakers in the world.
He's the ONLY magician that I trust with my long time clients. I know that not only will he do a great show for them when I'm not available, he'll treat them as MY clients.
If you don't know David (and it seems that everyone does), you should. He's a great guy all the way around.
I love my friend David Hira. I hope he gets as much out of his relationship with me as I get out of my relationship with him.
